There is a lot of buzz going on lately about Planet X.
The story goes something like this. In the far reaches of out solar system there exists a planet/star that is beyond the scope of our telescopes. The scientists know it exists because of slight gravitational anomalies on the planets Pluto and Neptune. It has a highly elliptical orbit and it passes near the Earth every 3600 years or so, causing Earth changes with every passing. It would be vi sable to the naked eye if you were standing near the center of the south pole. When it passes near the Earth in the year 2012 it will cause the poles to shift, and chaos will follow. The government knows of it's existence and they are keeping it a secret for now because they do not want to cause a panic. (Also they are preparing for it themselves, and they can't let everyone in the underground bases.)
Now, is this story true? I don't know. The gravitational anomalies are a fact, so something is out there. When Pluto was discovered in 1935, scientist thought they had found planet x, but the anomalies still exist. Here are a couple of examples of planet X in pop culture.
